Great News!! Our FIRST We’ll Clean Village e-blast (our Maiden voyage) was SO successful that owner David Launius decided to make an offer you just can’t pass up! But first, we thought it only fair to tell the world how our little empire was created:

It’s 1984, January 20th, one of the coldest days on record. David Launius and co-partners Heather Anderson, Roger Vanoer and Grant Crowley decided to open a hand car wash - and the story begins. There are 26 years of stories…like the time David’s fingers froze while he and Roger we’re hanging the Grand Opening banner across Lincoln Ave. Or the time, in the early years, (witnessed by his sister Nanci) when he was speaking with a new perspective client over the phone at the Wolfram St. home office. The beloved family chair started to slowly collapse under David, one piece at a time, like a scene out of Jim Cary’s Ace Venture, until there was only shreds of what used to be. He never ended his conversation, through out the collapse, maintaining composure and now sitting on the floor, with pen and paper in hand. Nanci’s uncontrollable laughter was the only other sound.

The day after opening We’ll Clean, the team invented the word “detailing” and the detailing “process” in Chicago. We’ll Clean was the FIRST in the field. Learning this craft from experienced yacht captains, they applied the same to fine investments, auto’s, airplanes, trains and rocket ships. Speaking of rocket ships, you should know that David was the rocket, Heather, the stabilizing fins, Roger, the nose cone and Grant, the computer guidance system. They collectively reintroduced the OLD FASHION hand car wash, like our dad’s used to do in the driveway and alley. They made each car wash customer feel as if they were driving a yacht! Customers experienced the best service…in “bristol” fashion! Red carpets on each side of the car and a hug from Roger and or David as they exited. If not a hug, then surely, a peace sign.

About those yachts…you should know that Three Twins, Inc. preceeded We’ll Clean. Founded in 1979 by David and joined at the hip by Heather Anderson and Nanci) Three Twins, Inc. soon became Chicago’s largest and most reputable yacht maintenance company (and winter snow removal service.) In the early days, Louis Launius (David and Nanci’s father) took messages in braile…yes, it’s true and that is a different chapter in this (truly inspiring) story. Balancing quality service with time sensitive schedules, is nothing short of a high wire act in real people business. The recipe: Mix old fashion family values with honesty, enthusiasm, hard work and genuine respect for the client.

Mom, Ida Launius (at 1520 Halsted location) is both cashier and counselor to those who know her best. At 84, she keeps it all real with love and priceless wisdom. Clients make a special trip just to be able to visit with her for 20 minutes. Aunt Rose (at 2261 N. Clybourn) greets clients in a melodic “Well Hellooooo, how are you my dear?” She offers pleasant conversation along with her sellable home made baby blankets, winter scarves and awesome pastries. We still can’t believe she is 88 – We swear she is Aunt Bea from Mayberry, reincarnated. Meeting high standards and delivering top shelf service is a norm for both companies .

We are very proud of our dedicated team and would not have our stories without them: Stan, our very first employee. After 26 years of dedicated service, Stan went home to Poland. He is enjoying the long awaited time with his family and grandchildren. Bogdan, 26 yrs., our 2nd employee ever hired. Nanci, 13 yrs., (starting with Three Twins’ maintaining Noah’s Arc) Ida, (Mom) 24 yrs., Jose, General Mngr., (18 yrs w/the company) Mariusz, 16 yrs., Tom, 10 yrs., Joanna, 10 yrs., Betty, 4 yrs., Aunt Rose (Aunt Bea) 2 yrs., Joe Hudy, We’ll Clean alumni, back with us since April 2010. Larry, another wonderful alumni back with us since May 2010.
